About Dr. Laura Hodge
I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in clinical psychology from La Sierra University . Graduating Magna Cum Laude, I was a member of the University's Honor Program, and was nominated to the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. I also earned a Master of Arts degree in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University. Finally, I received a Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles, where I was nominated for a Student of the Year Award in recognition for my commitment and contributions toward the empowerment of the student body. My doctoral project focused on adult attachment theory and its applicability to the therapeutic setting.
As a doctoral student at California School of Professional Psychology, my training consisted of completing a practicum rotation at Project Sister where I provided individual and group psychotherapy to women and children who had been sexually assaulted and abused. This experience also allowed me to obtain a certificate through the Office of Criminal Justice and Planning as a Certified Sexual Assault Counselor. Internship rotations were done at Family Service of Long Beach and West County Counseling Center in Huntington Beach. Both experiences allowed me the opportunity to provide child, adolescent, individual and couples therapy to clients in the surrounding communities, and to continue to address a broad spectrum of issues and problems.
For the past nine years, I have been working in private practice in the Inland Empire area providing both short-term and long-term individual therapy to adolescents and adults. Treatment focuses have included, but have not been limited to, addressing problems with anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, self-injury behavior, interpersonal and family issues, and acadmic and occupational stressors.
Taking that first step towards starting counseling is not always an easy decision. My passion is empowering you so that you feel confident in handling whatever issues are in your life both currently and in the future.
